Our Story
When you don’t know what to eat for dinner or are craving familiar comfort food, takeout is just a click away. You can even eat your way around the world—Thai, Italian, Caribbean, Greek, Indian—without ever leaving the couch. But that often leads to overeating and a diet of greasy, salty foods full of mystery ingredients.
Here at Island City Foods, we love noodles, dumplings, and fried rice just as much as the next person. (Chances are you do too.) Because we were founded by KC Wang, a first-generation immigrant from Taiwan, we know that Chinese food is a wide-ranging cuisine with a long history that has a lot more to offer than just takeout.

An Island City
In fact, our name is based on our roots in New York City, which, when you stop to think about it, is nothing more than a series of islands (we call them boroughs) connected by bridges—an island city. And like our city, we strive to connect people and our love of food, forging ties across cultures and countries to bring the world that much closer.
That’s why we work with master chef Kong Hing from southern China who has helped us develop authentic recipes for upgraded versions of your favorite Chinese food. Plus, because we believe in eating healthy and sustainably, you’ll always know what you’re eating and where it’s from. Island City products are all made from fresh farm to chopsticks, hand-selected ingredients sourced from our local, family-run vendors and farms for a superior product that is both delicious and nutritious.
You no longer have to sacrifice healthy eating for flavor and convenience. Island City products are easy to prepare and store, which means dinner is on the table in a matter of minutes, and you can still enjoy a taste of Chinatown in your very own kitchen.

Our Mission
We not only believe in making food that tastes good and is good for you, but also in supporting independent producers and the long-term sustainability of a healthy planet.
Our customers are global citizens who have developed a palate for the flavors of faraway places, which is why our food is developed from traditional Chinese recipes—only you don’t have to travel all the way to China to enjoy them, just to your nearest supermarket.

All Natural
Our dumplings are locally made with ingredients sourced from family-run farms and artisan suppliers. Our artisan dumplings are the first to use the fame of northern China premier recipes with NYC’s local flavors. We believe in local always using in-season ingredients that have been grown nature’s way and individually quick frozen process that guarantees dumplings retain not only their tender taste but also their healthy nutrients.
